Nidec recognized by Business France. Nidec’s innovative energy storage technologies awarded the Choose France Award 2025
Nidec, global leading provider of power-conversion systems and energy-storage solutions for the energy, industrial sector and mobility, recognized for its excellence and its innovative technologies in France.
Dominique Llonch, President of Nidec Energy, declares:
“We are honored to receive this award from Business France, which recognizes the work of all our employees. French industrial resources and expertise are at the heart of Nidec’s success.”
La Fouillouse, 14 January 2026 – Laurent Demortier, President of Nidec France, received the Choose France Award in the “Innovation/Innovative Technologies” category on 5 December 2025, presented by Sébastien Martin, Minister Delegate for Finance. On 13 January 2026, Laurent Demortier visited the new La Fouillouse site to present the award to Franck Girard and Dominique Llonch, accompanied by the Nidec ASI teams.
A global leading provider of power-conversion systems and energy-storage solutions for the energy, industrial sector and mobility, Nidec chose France as early as 2011 to establish its global center of expertise for high-power battery storage solutions (BESS), strategic equipment for the integration of renewable energies into electrical networks, the electrification of ports and the charging of electric vehicles.
Supporting the success of its technology over the past several years and to accompany the company’s growth, Nidec has strengthened its industrial foothold in France with a €17 million investment in phase 1 of its new site in La Fouillouse, near Saint-Étienne in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The La Fouillouse site, which opened in July 2025, employs 350 people and includes R&D. Ultimately, the investment will enable 10GWh to be produced per year.
Nidec stands out with its expanding footprint in Europe, where it has deployed more than 9.6 GWh of energy-storage capacity, including nearly 2 GWh in France. Worldwide, Nidec’s portfolio now reaches 3.9 GW / 10 GWh across 168 projects in 27 countries, an installed power equivalent to more than three modern nuclear power plants, positioning the group as a trusted player in the global energy industry.
Nidec made over 50 new hires in 2025 and plans to hire 35 more in 2026 to support its growth. The group is already working on numerous projects for 2026 worldwide, including 3 in France. Phase 2 of the La Fouillouse site is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
Franck Girard, President of Nidec ASI SAS, adds:
“We are choosing to invest in France, a key market for the group, to continue developing our unique expertise and to support the energy transition, in France and globally.”
