Nidec Conversion Strengthens Synergies Between Salerno and Monfalcone Plants During Confindustria Salerno Delegation Visit in Friuli-Venezia Giulia

The meeting, attended by the mayors of both cities, highlighted the value of cooperation as a cornerstone of social and economic progress in support of innovation
Monfalcone – September 12, 2025
Today, Nidec Conversion’s Monfalcone plant welcomed a delegation from Confindustria Salerno, underscoring once again that cooperation is the foundation for driving business innovation.
The visit, organized at Nidec Conversion’s Monfalcone facility in collaboration with the Salerno site, comes one year after a gathering promoted by the Chambers of Commerce of Salerno and Venezia Giulia in the Campania city. That event commemorated two historic moments of 1954 that forged a bond of solidarity between the two territories: the tragic flood that struck Salerno and the return of Trieste to Italy.
In the presence of Andrea Prete and Antonio Paoletti, respectively President and Deputy Vice President of Unioncamere, and the mayors of Trieste, and the mayors of Trieste, Roberto Dipiazza, and Salerno, Vincenzo Napoli, the gathering recalled those historic moments while reaffirming the values of national unity, peace, and cooperation as drivers of social and economic progress. It was within this spirit that the business mission was launched, organized by the Venezia Giulia Chamber of Commerce together with Confindustria Salerno and Confindustria Alto Adriatico.
The visit to Nidec Conversion’s Monfalcone facility was part of a broader program of initiatives promoted by Confindustria Salerno. Since September 11, twelve entrepreneurs representing thirteen companies have taken part in visits, presentations, and meetings at Fincantieri Spa in Trieste, Nidec Asi Spa in Monfalcone (GO), and Danieli & C. Officine Meccaniche Spa in Buttrio (UD). They were accompanied by the chamber presidents Andrea Prete and Antonio Paoletti, Laura Caputo, President of the Metalworking Group of Confindustria Salerno, and the Director of Confindustria Alto Adriatico, Massimiliano Ciarrocchi.
During today’s meeting and visit to the Monfalcone plant, the Italian centers of excellence of Nidec Conversion in Salerno and Monfalcone were presented. Monfalcone is an international center of excellence within the Nidec Group for the production of medium- and high-voltage electric motors and generators. Here, complex projects in the energy and industrial sectors have taken shape, such as the 45 MW motors for Qatar’s largest Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production facility. In the maritime sector, it was here that “Aliseo,” the green heart of the Amerigo Vespucci tall ship, was created; while on the infrastructure side, four cold ironing projects have been completed in Trieste, in addition to the Port of Monfalcone. The latter projects draw on products manufactured in the Vicenza and Milan plants, highlighting the cross-functionality of Nidec’s production and the cooperation between the company’s facilities.
Salerno, on the other hand, specializes in the design and construction of electric generators with a strong focus on hydroelectric applications, in addition to maintenance, overhaul, and revamping services. It also acts as a key hub for after-sales support and for upgrading the Group’s machinery.
There is strong interest among the companies taking part in these two days in Friuli-Venezia Giulia,” explained President Paoletti, “to present themselves to three major national and international players—Fincantieri, Nidec Asi, and Danieli—in order to explore opportunities for commercial partnerships. These are not just introductory visits, but structured presentations, meetings, and even advanced B2B sessions organized with representatives of the three companies, the Chamber of Commerce, and the two regional Confindustria associations. As Chambers of Commerce,” Paoletti concluded, “our goal is to build networks that promote Italian companies and create opportunities for collaboration at home, rather than looking abroad. Italy is a country of excellence, and those excellences must work together, leveraging their innovative capabilities. This new direction of the chamber system will generate business across our territories.
The collaboration among our Italian sites is a prime example of technological integration, which is crucial to driving further innovation,” added Dominique Llonch, President and CEO of Nidec Conversion and President of the Nidec Energy platform. “As they say, we’re stronger together—and we really apply this every day in our production and industrial strategy. The continuous exchange and close cooperation between Nidec Conversion’s plants have enabled us to achieve major goals over time, successfully delivering high-profile projects thanks to their complementary expertise.”
